However, it did not start off so well. I woke up around midnight that day to my mom telling me that my Tia forgot the all the decorations. She lives almost 5 hours away and was almost to my house so going back to get them was not an option. I was FREAKING OUT! What are we going to use for decorations now?! I quickly went on Facebook and posted on the swap pages asking anyone and everyone where I can rent Mexican decorations for the day. I fell back to sleep and woke up to some messages! Some of them told me they had some of their own and others recommended me some places to go buy them. But finally I talked to a lady who owns a venue who also happens to have a room filled with Mexican decorations! She told us we could stop by to look at it all at 10am so I quickly got dressed and drove all of us to the location. We spent about an hour there looking at everything and luckily drove back with serapes, cazuelas, flores de papel, table cloths, and a ton more stuff! A true miracle! I was still a little stressed because I was not sure if we could pull it off.
As we were driving home, we found out my sister was in the hospital because she was not feeling well. Turns out she had influenza. She was going to cook chicken enchiladas but no longer could take on that duty so my mom took over. My mom is super-woman, I swear. I love her! We got home and she went straight to the kitchen while my cousins, tia and I began decorating! You can see for yourself that it all turned out so BEAUTIFUL! All my fears were for nothing.
30 minutes into the Fiesta, I had about 20+ guests in my living/dining room. It was crazy! I loved seeing all those friendly faces enjoying some delicious enchiladas, nachos, mole, arroz, frijoles, agua frescas some dulces, and cake! Everyone was mingling amongst one another and I could not help but smile because all of these people were here to celebrate my son and I. I felt so loved!!!
My favorite part of baby showers are the games. We played quite a few such as measure the belly, Gerber taste game, guess the poopy diaper, and more. We all got some laughs out of playing each game so I say it was a huge SUCCESS!
It was finally time to open the presents and I seriously could not believe my eyes. Baby boy got so spoiled!!! I felt bad for my guests because it literally felt like I was sitting down opening gifts FOR HOURS (maybe it was actually 30 minutes) lol. It is safe to say that baby boy has everything he needs. I just need to finish decorating his nursery; some finishing touches to his crib that I assembled a few days ago (huge proud mom moment!) then all there is left to do is pack his diaper bag! Cannot believe it is almost baby time. Just two more months!
Even though the day started off super stressful, it had a very happy ending! I want to thank all of those who attended, helped decorate/make the food. Baby boy and I are so blessed and do not know what we ever did to deserve amazing people we get to call family and friends. We love you all so much and are forever grateful!
