I am entering the third trimester of my pregnancy here soon and just like I did with the first, I will recap the second trimester by answering some questions! YAY!
BABY IS THE SIZE OF: Baby started off as the size of a lemon (week 14: 3 1/2", 1 1/2 oz) and grew to the length of a scallion (week 26: 14", 1 2/3lbs)! HOLY MOLY. Baby boy grew so much!
MATERNITY CLOTHES: Oh, yes! Old shirts fit like crop tops and pants no longer button. I love wearing pajamas and/or dresses more than anything. So comfy!
MOVEMENT: YES! In the beginning of this trimester all I would feel were flutters and now there is a dance party in my belly! It has not always been easy, though. There have been some times where baby boy would go days without moving which made me worried/paranoid so I would go to the doctors and get checked to make sure everything was ok. I know now that it is completely normal for any baby to go a little while without moving, and most times they ARE moving but we may be too busy (or we are sleeping) to notice. I also learned that there is nothing wrong with getting checked, no matter how crazy you may think you are. Best to be safe than sorry. Third trimester is the time to begin tracking fetal movements which I plan on doing.
BEST MOMENT: Seeing him at my 18 week ultrasound and finding out the gender! I could not wait until the gender reveal photo shoot I had planned later that day so I had the technician tell me at the appointment and I have no regrets. I remember feeling shocked once I saw the penis on the screen. Now I have gotten completely used to the idea of becoming a BOY mom so baby better not surprise me after delivery 😉.
MISS ANYTHING: My old body haha! Now that baby is growing more rapidly, so are the pounds. I do not think I am big... I like to think I just have a belly. Maybe others don't agree? Lol. But it does not matter because I am feeling great!
FOOD CRAVINGS: Ice Cream! Which is not a healthy option but what baby wants, baby gets 😏.
ANYTHING MAKE YOU QUEASY: Nothing anymore. EXCEPT when I wake up in the morning and my mom is cooking breakfast, it is usually chorizo and the smell from that does make me queasy. It is just in the mornings though. I have not thrown up since I was 18 weeks. Hallelujah!
WEIGHT GAIN: I started off roughly around 150lbs and am now around 165lbs. Technically, I am on track with weight but it still absolutely terrifies me because I have 11 to 13 weeks left and I hear most pregnant women gain the most weight during the last trimester. It is nice to know I have the power and control over what I eat and exercise will help a ton, too.
STRETCH MARKS: Yep. I have tiger marks on my love handles! I do not care much for stretch marks because I have had them since a young age. They are reminders on how amazing my body is.
HAPPY OR MOODY: Both! More happy than moody most days which is really nice. I just try to stay away from any negativity and stress that may come.
SYMPTOMS: Acne, peeing frequently and insomnia. I used to be able to take naps and now it is so hard! Plus in the middle of the night I wake up randomly and is hard to fall back to sleep. Overall, I felt GREAT my second trimester. I had a lot of energy and no complications. Praying for a healthy and smooth third trimester!
LOOKING FORWARD TO: Baby shower, maternity pictures and picking a name! I am still so undecided what to name my son so for now he is just referred as baby boy. I am also obviously looking forward to meeting him. Time has been a thief so I know he will be here before I know it.
Thank you so much for reading along and showing interest in these kind of posts. Until next time friends!
